Global sports streaming platform Fanatiz has secured US$10 million in Series A funding from Miami-based private investment firm 777 Partners.

The over-the-top (OTT) service, which distributes live and on-demand content from Latin America’s top soccer leagues, as well as matches from Spain’s top-flight La Liga, to North and South American markets, announced the investment on 13th January, with the funds set to support the platform’s global expansion.

Fanatiz founder and chief executive Matias Rivera said: “It is truly a milestone day for all of us at Fanatiz, and most importantly, our fans and viewers. The partnership with 777 Partners reflects our strong growth trajectory and solidifies our positioning as one of the main contenders in a competitive sports streaming marketplace.”

Launched in 2016, the Fanatiz platform offers subscribers access to sports content from international broadcasters, including Qatar-based BeIN Sports, sports network Gol TV, Argentine pay-TV broadcaster TyC Sports, and Colombian pay-TV network RCN Nuestra Tele Internacional.

Among its most prominent markets, the OTT service operates in the US, Brazil, and several Latin American territories, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, and Mexico.

As part of its offering, the OTT service customises the viewer experience by inviting users to select their favourite teams, relevant news and updates, and has experienced a 125 per cent increase in paid subscriber base since July last year.

Juan Arciniegas, principal at 777 Partners, added: “We view our investment in Fanatiz as a fantastic opportunity for growth. It gives our firm no greater satisfaction than to support organisations like Fanatiz that are working to become dominant players in fast-growing niche markets.”

Fanatiz is available via Android and iOS smartphones, as well as TV streaming devices including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Roku.
